The dieter's suggestions of what to do on Valentine's Day without indulging in those yummy treats:

Burning calories together, crafty projects, or making your own dirty games, hehe: you can indulge a little without guilt, and the added benefit of additional together-time cannot be underestimated!

Here are a few ways to skip the traditional and tired “dinner and a movie” and those yummy snackies:

  1. Take your love and find a rock climbing gym (http://www.verticaladventuresohio.com/). An hour of climbing can burn up to 500 calories and the reality of the fact that you need to rely on your partner can be romantic.
  2. Take a hike with your partner, with bonus points if your hike takes you off the beaten path. Cross country hiking can burn as many as 350 calories. There are so many places to hike wherever you are, if you have snow grab your snowshoes and poles.
  3. Roller skating can be a fun reminder of your childhood, and this time you have someone with whom to couples skate! An hour of roller-skating can burn 400 calories.
  4. Take a walk at night- weather permitting, of course. Stargazing can lead to some great discussions.
  5. Enjoy a yoga class or rather TGM (traceygardnermethod.com), this class can burn 900+ calories, nothing like seeing your partner hot and sweaty… see that’s just as tasty as chocolate!
  6. Get out the arts and crafts and make each other homemade cards, love notes and etc.
  7. Ooh la la… Buy the game Jenga and split it between you and your partner and each of you write on the wooden block anything you want, ie., romantic sayings, poems, dirty messages…then play the game and make the rules whatever you want. BE CREATIVE!

Also, traditional ways of celebrating can be beneficial to your heart as well. After all, couples who exercise together have more sex, so use this Valentine’s Day to spice up both your exercise and your sex life! Gotta burn those calories!

Enjoy! LOL...
